We loved everything about Evening Shade and have already booked our next stay. The cottage was comfortable, with an incredibly good bed and lovely linens, and the breakfasts delivered to the door were hot and delicious. It had everything we needed, including a coffee pot, fridge, and wine glasses. Best of all was the beautiful back deck overlooking a valley full of gorgeous fall colors. The location is perfect.

The hosts, The Fouste Family, know Eureka inside and out and were happy to point me toward shopping, restaurants, history, festivals, local favorites, and a night out. Their place feels peaceful in every season, with porches, gazebos, winding grounds, and transportation and dining practically on site. I came for a solo getaway and loved the roomy, calm cottages. They’re clean and uncluttered, with Victorian details and a real sense of Eureka. The light through the windows is lovely, and the seating can be moved around for a view of the windows or fireplace. I was especially happy with the jetted tub, fridge, microwave, and pretty china. The bed was so comfortable I didn’t want to leave it, and the gas fireplace kept things warm on a very cold night. I’ll absolutely be back. Thank you, lovely Foustes!

Shawn and Shira made us feel so welcome, and the Amish breakfast baskets were a really nice touch. Our room was cozy and spotless, and the whole place felt wonderfully relaxing. Evening Shade Inn was a great stay, and we can’t wait to return to our new favorite spot.

The only things that let the place down for me were the overgrown plants and weeds out front, and the ice machine, which stayed out of order the whole time. A few small ice trays in the little fridge freezer could help with that. Inside, the room felt more like a suite, with everything we needed. It was spacious, immaculately clean, and had thoughtful details and a comfortable bed. The host was warm and friendly, and the very good breakfast was brought to our room each morning at the time we requested. We loved our stay at Evening Shade Inn.
