Le Merigot Hotel

The hotel connects to the casino, and you can walk there indoors. There are river views, too. My room felt modern and updated, with a trendy look. The bed was comfortable, with down pillows and a comforter, and the mattress wasn’t rock hard. The shower was fantastic, almost like a car wash. I had an excellent stay and would definitely come back.

We started out in a corner room with amazing river views. The bathroom was spacious and upscale, and the shower was nice, though it leaked a lot. A towel took care of the water. The lobby had an unusual smell, maybe the ozone product they use to cover something up. It wasn’t distracting like cigarette smoke, but noticeable enough to mention. There’s direct access to the casino, which has now moved onshore. The restaurant is inside the casino, so nonsmokers should keep that in mind. A solid choice for a getaway night or weekend. We’ll be back.

The rooms are elegant and really nice. The casino is attached, which is a plus if that’s what you’re after. A couple of restaurants are within walking distance, but I was there on a Monday and they were all closed. The continental breakfast was pretty good, though you have to eat in lounge chairs at coffee tables, which is very uncomfortable.

The manager was very rude. I was supposed to be booked for two days, but he came knocking and said I was only down for one. My host confirmed it was meant to be two days and that someone had made a mistake. The manager wouldn’t even let me talk and just told me to get out. This wasn’t the first time he’d been rude. They need new management.
