Mary at the front desk told me her boss had said nobody could check out late, and that anything after noon would be charged as another night. The latest she could offer was 12 pm. I had asked for 2 pm because of holiday travel and a business meeting that had been pushed back. I’m very disappointed that the hotel wouldn't honor the Marriott Bonvoy late-checkout standards. This was the day after Christmas, and under those conditions I won't return.

The indoor pool was icy cold and about the size of a large hot tub. You could only take two strokes before reaching the end, so nobody could really swim. We also had a bad experience with the desk clerk, who was rude and gave us wrong information. My daughter had checked in, but the clerk kept us from getting the room for over an hour and was rude to her too when she arrived after the wedding we attended. My husband and I paid my daughter back for the three rooms, one for us and one for each of the two children with their partners. My daughter and I should each have received a free room for that night, but the general manager took only about a third off the total price of one room.

I was in town as a fifth wheel for a girls cheer(leading) event at the convention center. The hotel is close to the highway and seemed to be in a nice office-like business district, though I arrived at night. The room needed a deep clean, with stains on the furniture, carpet, and walls, and a ripped chair. The pullout mattress was stained, thin, and lumpy, so I put it back into sofa position, covered the sofa with sheets, and slept there instead. Years ago I learned that the Marriott name alone isn't enough to make me choose a hotel. I've had wonderful stays at Hilton brands, including True and Hampton.

My mom and I had a wonderful weekend. Casey, Jessie, and Kaitlyn were all great, and we'll definitely be back. My son lives nearby, so this will be our regular hotel. Five stars, easily. Thanks for such a lovely weekend.
