Best Western Plus Fairburn-Atlanta Southwest

The staff were super friendly and sweet, and there are several fast food places nearby. But the halls smelled like weed. When the A/C came on, I’d wonder if I was smelling it, then a few seconds later it would disappear and make me think I was imagining it. In the morning the hall was clear, but the room smelled like weed when I went back in.

The area is nice and the rooms were clean, but I won’t stay here again. I left a pair of shoes behind and called the day I checked out. Everyone gave me the runaround, and the shoes weren’t in lost and found or anywhere in the building. I guess someone needed them more than I did and kept them. Pathetic. I’ve stayed in hotels where they hold onto things guests leave behind. I expected that kind of integrity here, and instead I feel like the housekeepers or staff are thieves.

The towels were the worst part. Every one had hairs from previous guests, some honestly about the size of pubic hairs, and one night there weren’t any towels for us because the hotel was full. I know that wasn’t the workers’ fault, but it was a real inconvenience and made management seem cheap and incompetent. The whole place smelled strongly of marijuana, especially the elevator. We had to use it twice a day throughout our stay, and every time the smell was nauseating. Our room was acceptable, with good air conditioning and a comfortable bed, though the pillows were all different. One was too high and hard, another too thin with uneven filling, and the third was the most balanced but still not fully comfortable. Staff were competent when we needed help, but not especially engaged. That may have been because the night shift was adjusting to a flipped sleep schedule. Breakfast was a little below average, though it did the job as free food. We picked the hotel for its convenient location, but I wouldn’t return or personally recommend it. I don’t know the other options, but here it might be worth paying more for a better stay.

The place is pretty worn down. The indoor pool isn’t heated, the fridge didn’t work, and the bathroom was gross. You can hear right through the thin walls, and the elevator seems close to giving out. A guest smoking set off the fire alarm at 3 am. I know that part wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but it was still scary, and having it go off for that seemed crazy. I’d skip this one.
