The room was okay clean and the location was good, but I really wouldn't recommend this place. It's a motel charging premium prices, and the contactless setup was a disaster. We arrived late and got a code for a room that was already occupied. There was a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. When we called staff, he still told us to try the door, and thankfully the guest inside had the security latch on. Staff clearly had no idea who was in which room and no one seemed to be watching the property. We moved to another room, where the AC and heater were on their last legs. Outside it was 40'f for both nights, and the machine was as loud as a roadside construction machine. We wore earplugs and still struggled to sleep. Again, there was no one on site to deal with it because everything is contactless. Maybe this motel suits the drunk guests from Barcelona downstairs, but apart from the location, you can drive ten minutes farther and get a normal hotel for the same price.

My father was stuck in traffic in a blizzard, and once he finally got to the hotel, he couldn't check in. No instructions had been sent, nobody answered the phone, and there were no employees in sight. This “contactless easy checkin” is an absolute joke. He waited in his car in the blizzard, unable to get in, while calls put him on hold for ages and then disconnected every time. The hotel left him with no choice but to sleep in his freezing car or try to drive over an hour home in the storm. I've booked many hotels as a world traveler, and this was the worst service I've ever had. I would never recommend it. Having no employees in the hotel is absurd. Fix yourselves.

Barcelona in the building is a big plus, and we'd definitely stay here again. Check-in was very easy, and the rooms were updated and stylish. It was only 3 degrees on a very cold night, and the heat struggled to keep our room warm.

It was just what I expected, a clean room without frills. I might have liked an extra blanket. The check-in software apparently struggles in the dark, and since I arrived at night, I had to call a few times to sort it out. The location was perfect for a conference at Fairfield University.

I was back in Fairfield to see family and friends for a couple of days over the holiday. I'm originally from here and visit the area a couple of times a year. This was my first stay at the revamped Hi-Ho, and I won't stay there again. It felt impersonal, disconnected, and uncomfortable. Businesses like this seem to think contactless service, everything online, and streaming access in the rooms are cool and creative. For what this hotel charges, I want easy access to live TV, a way to speak with a real person who can help, and to feel like I matter as a paying guest. Hi-Ho offers none of that. It was an awful hotel and an awful experience. I do want to say something good about Chelsea, who was in the front office on the afternoon of Saturday Dec. 27. She was very nice. I feel bad that she works for such a poor business model.
