Holiday Inn Express Akron Nw - Fairlawn, An Ihg Hotel

I liked the horse statue visible from my room, but that was about the only bright spot. The lobby had a strong mildew-like odor, and both the room and bathroom felt cramped. The window shade was hard to raise, the shower drain was clogged so water collected in the tub, and the toilet shifted because it wasn't secured properly. I skipped breakfast since the buffet seemed too expensive given the rest of the issues. I wouldn't come back unless I had no other option.

The beds were comfortable, though smaller than usual, and the location worked well with the mall and restaurants nearby. The rest of the room felt dusty and in need of updating, even though renovations were underway and I wasn't sure what they were working on. Plumbing was slow in our room and the lobby restroom too. The shower water stayed cold for over 45 minutes with three people using it before it reached a decent temperature, and the temperature display on the showerhead was way off. I sent my concerns to the front desk by text. The light between the beds acted strangely whenever we plugged in an iron, hair dryer, or charger, like something was overloaded. No one told us about breakfast or the hot tea and coffee area, which we only noticed near the restaurant on our last day. My husband liked the warm cookie, but with my nut allergy, a nut-free option would have been better. The stay was just okay, and I hope our spring visit goes better.

Mel at the bar and restaurant was the one good part of this place. In the room, things were coming off the walls even though it was called renovated. There was old floss and hair left behind, the bed was broken, and the closet door frame nearly came off when I opened it. The room switches didn't work, and neither did the fridge. I saw black marks on the ceiling and couldn't tell if they were mold or dust. I have photos from this visit and plenty of other examples. I even use a hand towel in the shower if I forget my flip-flops.

The restaurant and bar are just inside the entrance to the left, and the lobby was kept very clean. The rooms were extremely clean too, with the familiar Doubletree linens, towels, and interior style. It looked like the place had been remodeled in the last year or two, and I thought the work was done nicely. The property is well maintained, and the staff was spectacular. I was very happy with my stay and would recommend it. The location is terrific, right on WestMarket AKA St.Rte. 18 in farlawn, Ohio, across from Summit Mall, with just about anything you could want nearby. I'm a big Hilton fan and stay in hotels at least three days a month, sometimes 12, 13, 14, or even 15 days every month, so I have plenty of hotel opinions. LOL I want to apologize for my earlier review. I used talk-to-text and didn't realize how many mistakes it made, so I edited it.
