Spark by Hilton Akron Fairlawn

The staff were the highlight of our three-night stay. Everyone, from the front desk to maintenance and housekeeping, was genuinely wonderful, and they fixed a small issue right away. The beds were very comfortable too. We came to get away for a few days and catch an MLB game, and the hotel had just the amenities we needed. It seems fairly new. It also looks like it used to be a Holiday Inn before becoming a Hilton, and this was our first time trying a Hilton Spark Hotel. We’d stay again.

The staff at the front desk were knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating when I stayed at the Spark. I had a couple of serious enough problems to ask for a different room, and they helped me with that. The rooms look modern, are laid out well, and were reasonably comfortable. The hot water was barely lukewarm when I tried to shower late in the evening. I thought it might have run out, so I rinsed off quickly with cold water, then changed rooms partly because of that. The second room had the same hot water problem in the morning. The walls are thin too. A large family with young kids stayed next door, and the noise made it hard to sleep. I asked to move because of both issues, and the front desk staff were lovely about it. Breakfast was very limited, basically cereal, fruit, and a few muffins or scones. At $138 a night, I expected more. When I raised these concerns in the hotel’s internal survey, management replied with what felt like AI-written fluff, recycling my own wording in flowery language. It left me feeling that my concerns didn’t merit a human response. I guess that’s what I should have expected from a corporate hotel. I wouldn’t recommend staying here until these problems are addressed.
