Super 8 by Wyndham Fallon

Fallon Super 8, AKA "Bonanza Casino" is just what it says it is: a regular Super 8 with a casino attached, right in the heart of Fallon. The rooms are simple and cheap, the restaurant's food is decent, and the casino has the flashy games you'd expect, along with a bar and live keno. It doesn't pretend to be something else, and I respect the lack of fuss or false advertising enough to give it five stars.

Lee Sha Morris was working as the hotel manager during check-out, and her personality was the brightest I've seen at a hotel. She checked that we had coffee and snacks before leaving, and we had a wonderful 10-15 minute conversation. Her cheerful spirit was a great start to a 12-hour-plus drive. We'd needed a room at short notice late at night, and the staff smiled, got us a first-floor room, and checked us in quickly even though they could see how worn out we were. In the morning, a staff member outside smiled and thanked us for staying, and we had a brief, happy chat. If I'm back in Fallon, this is where I'll stay.

The room and bathroom were really clean, with a comfy bed, plush pillows, nice furniture, lots of lights, a big-screen TV, a nice picture on the wall, wood floors, and soundproofing. Check-in was flexible, and the front desk clerks were friendly. It's convenient to six restaurants, Safeway, and the Maverick convenience store across the street. I stayed four days, but room service came only once, as if they'd forgotten my room, and I had to ask for clean towels. The room also had a peculiar smell, there were no towel racks, the towels and rags were scratchy, and the blanket and bedspread were really thin.

The rooms and staff are A+, much nicer than at other lower-priced hotels, even though the place looks like one. If I need to stay in Fallon again, I'll always come here.
