DoubleTree by Hilton Washington Dulles Airport Hotel

Guest service was welcoming and great, but the hotel's upkeep needs work. It's a huge place with hundreds of rooms, looks dated, and seems to be going downhill. The elevators were dirty and stained on the doors, edges, and especially the control panels. There wasn't a DO NOT DISTRUB tag in the room, so I had to ask the service desk for one. Some of these things seem like easy, low-cost fixes that could improve the feel a lot. I also don't understand the parking fee when it's away from Herndon city center, with only industrial surroundings nearby and nothing within walking distance.

I only stayed two nights and rarely give five stars, but I thought this was a good spot at a fair price, under $200 a night after tax. The on-site restaurants were convenient and not too expensive. My room was pretty good, with a large desk near the TV that helped with work. I'd suggest adding signs for the elevators. I got turned around on the 4th floor. The hotel is in transition and will become a Double Tree, which someone at the front desk helpfully explained. The shuttle service to the hotel worked well for my location. I wasn't sure from the reviews whether there was a mini-fridge, so I thought I'd include some photos of it.

I'd look for another option. This aged, dated hotel charges a lot for rooms that are just okay, and the Wi-Fi is terribly slow. My room had no hot water, which I only found out when I was getting ready to catch the bus back to the airport. The apology I got was lukewarm. The shuttle runs only every 30 minutes and doesn't take you to airport check-in. Awful experience, even though I've stayed here before.

We left our car here for an international trip, with 7 days of parking included. After getting home late from a transatlantic flight, it was a blessing to have somewhere close by instead of facing a 2.5-hour drive home. The weather was very cold, and they let us move the car from the lot into the garage for the night. The front desk greeted us warmly with a cookie. We didn't need breakfast or other amenities for this trip, though the restaurant looked nice.
