The staff were very nice, but when I asked for someone to look at the HVAC in my room, nothing came of it. The same thing happened when I reported that the bathroom fan had started making a bad noise. I stayed about a week, and the car noise outside was the worst part. The busy road right in front meant engines drowned out the waves, which was really disappointing. The hotel may have been nice once, but it needs renovation now. The floors squeaked badly, especially on the third floor, the carpets didn’t seem to get vacuumed much, and the shower floor needed a serious scrub. The pool area felt old and dated. From a distance the room looked good, but up close it showed its age and needed better cleaning and repairs.

The women at the desk when we checked in were better than we could have hoped: courteous, proactive, and insightful. The beach views were lovely, even in a Massachusetts winter, and the in-room fireplaces added a nice atmosphere. But we felt like an afterthought during our wedding weekend. Guests outside our group were noisy, and we were put across from the vending machine. I barely slept two hours the night before my wedding. We booked our wedding block at NBR and never spoke to the same representative twice. Our guests found the booking process confusing. We also contacted the business directly two weeks ago about our negative review. A representative replied that they’d pass it to the manager, so we know it was received. Given that response, NBR seems to lack urgency if this isn’t how they want guests to be treated.

The restaurant was a real bright spot. Sunday’s brunch buffet was amazing, dinner was delicious, and there was a full bar. I loved the beet salad at lunch so much that I came back for the Fra Diavlo at dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful, coffee by the lobby was free and good, and there was a decent selection of snacks and drinks for sale around the clock. Our ocean-facing room had a balcony where I could watch the waves. The room itself was less pleasant at first. The fireplace didn’t work on my first night, even after someone came up to try to fix it, and I’d been looking forward to using it. My towels were marked with makeup and there was hair in the shower. Sunlight the next morning showed how stained the underside of the duvet was. They thoroughly cleaned the room and got the fireplace working while I was out, so nights two and three were much better. It’s an older hotel dressed up to look modern, and the lobby had that old hotel by the water smell.

Nancy at the spa gave me one of the best treatments I’ve ever had. She’s very skilled, and the whole thing left me feeling relaxed and refreshed. The on-site restaurant was great too. I loved the beet salad at lunch so much I returned for the Fra Diavlo at dinner, and both were outstanding. The property felt clean, cozy, and comforting as soon as I arrived. The front desk team and manager were warm and attentive throughout my stay. I had a wonderful time at Nantasket Beach Resort and would highly recommend it.

The hotel has really gone downhill since we first started coming ten years ago. When we arrived for my husband's 60th, the room was freezing and the gas fire wouldn’t work. It took an hour to get it going. Dinner at the restaurant was decent. A huge blizzard was expected, with 12-18 inches of snow, storm surge, 80 mph winds, and requests for travel restrictions. We asked to leave a day early because of the storm, but got no refund. Basically, tough luck. I couldn’t speak to management because they preferred email, and my email bounced back. I’m not sure I’d return.
