The Heights Hotel

The shower floor was nasty and seemed to be falling apart, and the carpet had strange stains. The bathroom was so cramped you could turn and hit the sink or toilet. The room felt disgusting, like a Motel 6. Our water was painfully cold until the third day of our four-day trip, when it was finally fixed. Maybe the stay would have been better if they’d dealt with the shower water complaint on day one, but it took until day three. There’s no front desk or designated person to contact when something goes wrong. You have to call the connected restaurant and ask for a manager, and the communication was poor throughout. Getting even a semi-functional room took too many hoops. Never stay here. I can’t stress that enough.

The only thing I liked was the café downstairs, which had really tasty pizza. That didn’t make up for the room conditions, and I wouldn’t stay here again. For nearly $400 a night, this was one of my most disappointing hotel stays. The first room hadn’t been cleaned at all, with unmade beds and clearly not ready for guests. The front desk woman was nice and offered another room, but it was smaller, dirty, and had mold in the bathroom. The shower was in terrible shape, and everything felt neglected. I was told I’d get a 10% discount for the inconvenience, but it never came through.

The ocean view from our perfect unit was beautiful, and the deck was a relaxing place to sit. We also loved the coffee, and the room was clean. It’s a short walk to local shops, with a top-notch restaurant next door. The jetted tub was a surprise and a perfect way to end our week-long vacation. Would recommend!

Right across from Heights Beach, with an indoor restaurant and an outdoor patio that offers service. The bathroom is small, but the A/C is solid and the location is great. The TV setup is complicated, so maybe take a night swim, eat at the great restaurant, or head downtown for ice cream and a Commodores game.
