Great views, and it’s a safe, clean place. I liked sitting out on the patio with coffee in the morning. There’s a great Italian restaurant nearby, too.

A fine motel with very good service. The room was spacious, the bed was very large and comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The shower room was a little quirky but clean and functional. Laundry service costs $15 and is worth it. There aren’t many power sockets, though. After a long day of driving, it was nice to sit outside in the evening with a beer and a smoke. One warning: I ate at the restaurant across the road, and it was terrible.

The lady who checked us in was very chatty and walked over with us to look at the room. It had a desk, dresser, queen bed, microwave, refrigerator, two chairs, flat-screen TV, and good wifi. There were another two chairs outside the room. We were pleased with the cleanliness and didn’t see any bugs. The sheets and towels were older, which we expected for $55. We were happy with the whole stay.

The owner was so nice. When she realized I needed crackers with dinner, she got some from her pantry and saved me a walk across the street to the store. The room was clean and comfortable, the price was great, and the internet was faster than at most chains I stay in. If a big flat-screen TV is what you want, this isn’t the hotel for you. For good value and wonderful service, it is.

I want to answer the horrible review because I don’t think it reflects the value, cleanliness, or hospitality we experienced. My fiancee and I stayed two nights, and then booked another night for our return trip. At first, the lived-in look of the outside didn’t make a great impression. But within seconds we met Peter, who handed us a key and invited us to look around. The room had real furniture rather than typical motel-style pieces, which made it feel comfortable right away. It was spotless and smelled freshly scrubbed. I’m picky about mattresses, and as soon as I lay down on the bed, I relaxed. We’d found our place for the night. After we checked in and started unpacking, Peter knocked to ask if we needed a ride into town for anything. My fiancee went with him and a few other people, while I looked over the Blue Ridge maps Peter had kindly put together for me. After dinner across the street, we sat outside and chatted easily with the other guests. We slept so well that we immediately booked another night for the return trip. The next morning, Peter shared some lovely ideas for stops along our route and wished us safe travels while we packed up. On our return the following week, we were glad to have a clean, comfortable room again and were looking forward to telling Peter and Lori about our adventures. There are no frills, but the warmth and hospitality were unlike anything I’ve experienced elsewhere. I’ve stayed at many upscale places, and I enjoyed this motel more than any five resort I’ve been to. If you want a formal place with room service, keep driving. If you want to connect with people and sleep in a quiet, clean room with an awesome bed, stay with Peter and Lori.
