The hotel looks decent, with a small parking lot, and the one-way streets make it a little hard to reach. The shower was hot. The staff accommodated me and made things as easy as they could, but I had to book again and check in after work because my reservation had been canceled. I had several nights booked and, as I've done at other hotels, planned to arrive around 5 or 6 a.m., check in, then work from 7 until about noon. I got there at 6:40 a.m. and was told I'd been marked as a no-show. Choice Hotels' Guarantee Policy says the room is held until 7 a.m. the morning after the scheduled arrival date, and after 7 you're a no-show. I'm already a platinum member with 20 nights by February, use a corporate ID and rate, and have the company's name on my hotel profile. Obviously I'm not just a local renting a room.
Sherry was very nice and came to spray the room when I first checked in because it smelled horrible. The heavyset man with glasses, on the other hand, is very cut and dry and didn't seem to care about customers. My last stay, on 12/13 in Room 114, was awful, though I've had plenty of stays here that weren't bad. The microwave and refrigerator were dirty and had hair in them, one sheet had a spot that looked like blood, and a roach stayed in the bathroom all night and was still there in the morning. I took pictures and sent them to the email the front desk associate gave me. Two managers each promised to call back, but I heard nothing. When I called on the 17th, I'm pretty sure they had the desk associate say they weren't there. That's unacceptable. I've spent a lot of money here and I'm a member. I'm very disappointed.
I stay in hotels all the time, and have never been asked to bring dirty towels and trash to housekeeping myself. They gave me bags for the trash, but refused to come into my room to replace it or bring fresh towels. I didn't ask for full service, just the basics for someone staying six days. That's more than reasonable. The front desk also tends to talk as if you're bothering them. You work in hospitality, and I'm not responsible for housekeeping being short staffed. The response blaming a privacy sign shows they weren't listening. I took it down, asked the housekeeper in person, and called the front desk because she wouldn't enter. She told me I had to bring everything to her. I'm only using caps because instead of fixing it, you blame the paying customer. You have cameras and could check what happened, including me speaking to her. It's insulting to imply I had the sign up when I deliberately removed it to get service and called the desk.
Don't stay here if your belongings matter to you. Several things went missing while I was there. There's a sign over the bathroom sink saying housekeeping only cleans on request, yet they cleaned my room daily during a three-day stay without me asking. On the last day, the towels we got were dirty, with brown spots. Breakfast was worse than school cafeteria food.
This is an ordinary motel, clean and available, with no special extras. Service was straightforward but didn't have much Southern hospitality, though I guess it's a motel. Be aware it's basically a glorified motel and, honestly, overpriced for what you get. The TV is old and the channel selection is very limited. They could put in Roku, since there's not much coverage now. If you're traveling with kids, there's nothing for anyone under 10, and the channels generally aren't great.
