The Craftsman Inn & Suites

The kindest part of the stay was a woman in the kitchen who explained the food choices and offered alternatives because I don't eat meat. I really appreciated her effort. The receptionist, though, was rude and unhelpful when I raised concerns. I'd called ahead about my pet allergy and specifically asked for a properly cleaned room. I was assured it would be handled, but the room smelled bad and didn't feel clean. I also found hair inside the water kettle, which was unhygienic and unacceptable. I booked a junior suite after asking about a microwave, but there wasn't one in the suite. The experience fell far short of expectations, and I hope the hotel takes these issues seriously.

The staff were friendly and efficient, and the room was quiet, with comfortable furniture and enough space. We'd stay again. The bed cover was clean but worn, with lots of pulled threads; the shower corners and floor-wall seam needed a more thorough cleaning, and the entry tiles needed a scrub. There was a strange smell in the room, which could use a good airing out. Breakfast was adequate. It's not a luxury hotel, but the price reflects that. We booked an accessible room because it was the only option available at short notice, possibly during an SU move-in weekend. The shower water ran into the main bathroom area, so it had to be mopped up to keep our feet dry at the sink and toilet. Extra towels should be provided in these rooms by default. The water may explain the smell. The towel rack was quite high for someone using a wheelchair. The coffee maker's cord was too short, so it had to be unplugged and pulled forward to add water and pods before plugging it back in, which would be very difficult from a wheelchair. The location of the available plugs also wasn't well thought out for an accessible room.

The honeymoon suite was worn throughout and smelled like urine. There were used intimate products in the nightstand, random pills on the floor, and no screens in the windows. The shower didn't drain properly, and there was no wifi. It didn't feel remotely as upscale as it seemed, and I saw what looked like many health code violations. Stay away.

The restaurant affiliated with the inn was great, and I'd absolutely stay here again. The room, beds, and sheets were very comfortable. Breakfast was typical and nice when it was available, and the next day everything was fine. On the second of our three days, though, nobody was staffing breakfast, there were no waffles, and the coffee had run out. When we came back to check, it was basically hot water. They were likely short-staffed for the holiday weekend demand. I expect they'd have refilled the shampoo and hand wash if we'd asked, but I was already in the shower when I found both empty. There was no other soap, so I had to go into the shower for body wash whenever I needed to wash my hands. I'm sure it's the nicest hotel in the area.
