Comfort Inn Federal Way - Seattle

The lobby is modern and open, and the pool area was clean. Our top-floor room was comfortable and clean too, though dated, especially the bathroom. The wallpaper was peeling, the grout looked dingy, and the doors were hollow laminate. The TV worked, but the provider was updating its service, so there was no channel guide and finding anything was cumbersome. The elevators were slow enough that the stairs were quicker. Staff were friendly, though the front desk was often unattended and we had to wait. Breakfast was limited but hot and tasty.

For a place that’s basically meant to give you a bed for the night, I was impressed and thought it was good value for the area. The lot was clean and everything worked. Inside, the common areas were swept, though dust bunnies were still hiding in the corners. The staff were pleasant and helpful. It’s definitely dated, and there was a somewhat sketchy moment when police came at 10 am to check on a random car in the lot, with a lot of less fortunate people around the area. If a speck of dust bothers you, you may want another hotel. I gave it five stars because it is what it is, no more and no less.

Everyone at this property was courteous and kind. Cathy was especially sweet and accommodating when the Choice website got our stay dates wrong. She quickly helped us as walk-ins and explained how we could work on fixing the incorrect date charges. The next morning, a man I spoke with was also quick to help resolve it after the Choice Hotels representative hadn’t been helpful.

The curtains wouldn’t meet in the middle, and a light just outside our second-floor windows shone in all night. Breakfast was only okay, and I’ve had better at plenty of places. The scrambled eggs had a slightly green tint that put me off a bit. The room itself was clean, though, and the bed was comfortable.
