Motel 6 Ferndale WA

We were glad we picked this Motel 6 and would recommend it if you just need a clean place to shower and sleep while you’re in the area. For the price, our family got good value. The room was clean, modern-feeling, and mostly worked as it should. The shower temperature control was backwards and unpredictable, sometimes getting hot or cold on its own. There weren’t many of the amenities you’d find at a pricier place, like a hair dryer, iron, or coffee maker. I understand that helps keep rates down, though it would be handy if the front desk could lend out an iron.

Other Motel 6s we’ve stayed at were much better. This one felt more like a Scottish Inn, and the quality was poor for the money. We paid the same for two nights at a Super 8, and the rooms and amenities there were remarkably better. They said this place had been remodeled, but it looked as if they’d just painted over the old damage. There weren’t enough towels or any chairs, and nowhere to set a suitcase. The office was closed when it was supposed to be open for coffee, and other people were waiting too. I couldn’t return the key. I would not recommend this place at all.

The location is good, and it’s a nice area to walk the dogs. The room itself had big gaps in the flooring, writing on the walls, and a missing toilet paper holder. We stayed two nights without anyone cleaning the room or bringing fresh towels. The towels were thin and worn, the pillows old and lumpy, and the bed uncomfortable. There was no hair dryer and just one bar of soap. The satellite TV only gave us five channels and kept showing a message to check the satellite. We unplugged and restarted the receiver, but it didn’t help. The front desk wasn’t helpful.

The beds were good, but the room had no amenities besides soap. There was only one small bath towel, one hand towel, and one face cloth. The bathroom light flickered so badly it made me feel sick to my stomach. The young man at the desk couldn’t tell us where anything in the area was. I’m a travel agent, and I’d never book this hotel again. I’ve stayed at Motel 6 before and gotten much more for the cost.
