Comfort Inn Festus - St Louis South

It’s a decent place to stay, but I wouldn’t recommend it if cleanliness matters to you. There was a pile of toenail clippings next to the bed from the previous guest. The cleaning clearly seemed bare minimum. If they didn’t vacuum the floor, it makes me wonder what else they’re skipping.

I spend more than 300 nights a year in hotels, so I know things can go wrong. This wasn’t one of those cases. The place was horrible, filthy from outside through the lobby and into the rooms, and the nastiest hotel I’ve been to in years. I told the desk guy, who I believe was the owner, and he didn’t care. Avoid it at all costs.

Used shampoo and bar soap were still in the shower, along with dirty clothes left by the previous guest. The shower curtain was stuck to itself with grime. The whole place was filthy. Management also lives there and cooks curry-smelling meals that stink up the hotel, like cooking socks. I raised all this with the three people who seemed to hang around the lobby, but nobody apologized. They seemed used to loud, stinky, filthy living. A real embarrassment for Choice Hotels. Stay somewhere else.

The room was hot even with the heater off, and it was in the 20s outside. I had to run the A/C so I could sleep comfortably. The room was dirty, and the appliances were unplugged.
