Drury Inn Festus

My room, 311, was nice, with clean towels and a clean bed, and the slight wet-dog smell by the bathroom door wasn’t too bad. The lobby had a noticeable musty odor, though, and the hallway on the third floor was at least 85 degrees. The hotel looks clean overall, but the side entrance on the east side facing Steak 'n Shake was a problem: after walking down three flights of stairs to reach the parking lot, the keypad to get back in was broken. There was also a sign saying the elevator was out, yet they gave me a third-floor room. I checked in today, 2/27/25, at 2:45 pm. The young woman who checked me in seemed polite and professional and did her job, but she seemed frustrated with life or the job and wasn’t as friendly as I’m used to. I’ve stayed at several La Quinta hotels, and this one rates on the lower end for me. For two days it’s not too bad, but the condition doesn’t match the price. Next time I’ll go to the Holiday inn.

With a car full of family and our dog, we got caught driving through a blizzard overnight on my daughter’s 7th birthday. This hotel was closest to the interstate and safety, so we went for it. From our first call, the staff were incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond. Checking in at 6am with kids and pets could’ve been chaotic, but it was quick and easy. The room was clean, amazing, and completely quiet, and breakfast was great. We were unexpectedly stuck there on her birthday, and they let us use scissors and other things to make her day special while we were trapped. Every staff member was so kind and helpful. 10/10.

We stayed here over Thanksgiving, and the location was perfect, close to everything we needed. The rooms were very clean, and the staff were polite and helpful. Bad weather back home meant we had to extend our trip by a day. The woman at the front desk helped arrange it so we could keep our current room. Housekeeping did a wonderful job during the stay, and they even kindly made up the travel cot we’d brought from home for our little one.

The rooms were extremely hot, especially for January. The thermostat was set to 61, but I couldn’t sleep all night, and my dog panted and couldn’t get comfortable. The bedsheets were very itchy. The CLC APP rated it 10/10, but I’d give it a strong 2/10. Some doors worked fine with the key card; others made you put your things down and struggle with it. I wrote this before the housekeeping warriors.
