Travelodge by Wyndham Port of Tacoma WA

I paid for the room in full when booking, then was charged a $100 deposit that I was pretty sure wasn't legal. The room was trashed, with punched-in holes in the walls, bugs, soft floors on the third floor, and floorboards that seemed to be giving way. Our door wouldn't lock, and strange, loudly drunk people stayed outside our room all night. The rude front desk employee said that was “normal” there. I've never felt so unsafe. When I checked out the next morning, I asked for my deposit back. They said it would go to the card used to book, but I told another front desk employee I'd paid cash. She said that didn't matter because they had a copy of my card and would refund it that way. Nearly two months later, I still haven't received anything. I'll contact the city about a building inspector. This place needs to close. It's a scam.

The staff were good, and the room size was fine for the price, but my room was dirty, with stained carpet and walls. The bed was okay; the pillows took some getting used to because they were so hard. The AC kept things cold, though it was loud. The shower temperature kept turning too hot or too cold. Maybe it was a problem with my room or its water tank, I can't say. There were a lot of sketchy people around the community, so be careful going to your room or getting things out. I rate it 2.5: good staff and decent room size, but it was dirty, the water temperature needs work, and the people around aren't something you can do much about besides keep to yourself. I'd come here only if I needed somewhere for one night.

They had no working rooms available when we arrived. We settled on one that required staff to let us in because they gave us no room keys. Inside, there were several dead bugs on the bed, the room was unsanitary, and it smelled awful. We went back to the check-in office to ask for a refund and were treated incredibly rudely. Do not stay here.

The front desk person was nice, which earns the extra service star, but there's no point saving money here. The free breakfast was one reason we gave it a try, and by morning they had run out. Nothing is nearby, so we called it an early night, only to be woken at least three times by loud knocks. We'd get dressed and reach the door, but nobody was there. Earlier, we were given a key to the wrong room and walked in on someone getting ready for bed. We avoided a confrontation, went back to the desk, and found out it wasn't our room. Once we got the right key and entered our room, the musty odor hit us. The carpets looked bad too. Thankfully the AC worked and had a drying setting, but it had to run the whole time and was loud. The water pressure was weak, and we never worked out how to get water between scalding and freezing. We left as soon as we could and won't be back. Their low prices aren't worth whatever you'd save.
