Findlay Inn and Conference Center

We booked this for an event, and the food was awesome. The people working there were so nice and made the party much better. The desserts were a highlight too, especially the chocolate cake. I heard the other options were great as well. We’d definitely book an event here again.

The beds were so low it felt like sleeping on the floor, and they were really hard. Breakfast was a mess too. At check-in they said it would be in the restaurant, but nothing was ready when we went down at 7 a.m. The cook said there was coffee, OJ, and a little box of cereal in a room down the hall. Sausage patties, eggs, biscuits, and gravy finally showed up at 9:30, even though breakfast was meant to run from 6:30 to 10. The check-in itself was simple, and the place looks nice in the pictures, but our stay was a nightmare. My friend got electrocuted plugging in a hair dryer. Sparks came from the outlet, the bathroom lights went out, and there were burn marks around the socket. There were no phones in the rooms, so she couldn’t call the front desk. The manager was working at the wedding dinner tables and didn’t seem to care. She told my friend to press the plug’s reset button but never came to look at the room. They only switched her to another room, where the light kept flickering. We should have called the fire department right away, and they might have shut the place down.

We’d seen mixed reviews and weren’t sure about staying, but it turned out to be more than adequate. The room and everything else were clean, the staff were nice, and several restaurants and bars are nearby. There’s also a restaurant and bar in the hotel that’s supposedly good, though it was closed on the Monday we were there. I’d stay again.

The building is beautiful, and the rooms are amazing. We weren’t from the area and were trying to find somewhere to stay. The front desk staff member was kind and made us feel welcome.
