Quality Inn Fitzgerald

We’ve stayed here several times, and it’s gotten worse each visit. This will be our last. The location is great, but the rooms are disgusting and the staff could use better customer service. I know housekeeping has a lot to do in little time, but most of this didn’t look like it had been cleaned in a very long time. The desk clerk checked with housekeeping and was told our room had been cleaned, but that wasn’t true. The bed was half made, and towels were put out, hopefully clean, and that was about it. If we’d had to stay more than one night, I’d have asked for a refund and gone somewhere else. The chair in the room was so filthy I wanted to put it in the hallway. The pillows are tiny, like little couch throw pillows, and they won’t give you extras if you ask. The ice machine was disgusting, the Coke machine was out of order as usual, and the pool is always closed. Choice Privilege clearly doesn’t care about its customers, or these problems would be fixed.

My wife and I spent two nights here during a family emergency. The place is worn and patched up, and the bed cover looked soiled, like it wasn’t cleaned regularly. There are long-term residents and lots of barking dogs. A Great Dane across the hall was said to have been there for a year, and it barked whenever someone walked down the hall, talked, or closed a door. It kept waking us up, even after 11:30 pm. I recorded it happening several times. Miserable. The upstairs was empty, but our door passes wouldn’t open those rooms. The carpet was filthy and worn out. I wouldn’t recommend staying unless it’s the only place available.

We had to stay here because we needed a room that allowed pets, and it was the only hotel nearby we could find. I know it’s an economy hotel, but good lord, it’s gross. There are cobwebs in the corners, chipped and stained walls, and grimy crown molding. The bathroom ceiling has rust, the vent looks like it’s never been cleaned, and there’s mold under the AC unit. The bedside lamp was disgusting. I found crumbs under the mattress and checked for bed bugs because of the room’s general feel, but thankfully there weren’t any. Some pillows have water stains. It looks like they recently replaced the carpeting, and I can only imagine what it looked like before the faux hardwood panels went in. All the drink, vending, and ice machines were broken. The front desk woman wasn’t necessarily rude, just seemed tired of the job, and had really bad morning breath at 10:00 pm. The bed feels like a thousand people have slept on it, which I don’t doubt.

We came to town for a funeral and stayed because there wasn’t much else to choose from in Fitzgerald. Never again. I’d called to reserve three rooms and specifically asked for a double-bed, handicap-accessible room for my 90-year-old grandmother. All three rooms were on the second floor, with no elevator. I reminded them I’d asked for a first-floor room, but they said nothing was available, even though there were only five cars in the parking lot. We eventually got my grandmother up the stairs. Two of the rooms had multiple roaches. One had a filthy sitting chair with awful stains and smell. The continental breakfast was slim pickings: cereal and oatmeal, but only chocolate milk.
