Baymont by Wyndham Flagstaff

For someone on a tight student budget, the low price and spot near the college made this a handy place to stay while going back and forth to campus. The building sits at the top of a hill, though, with only a road leading up and no walkway, so getting around on foot was awkward. I had a standard room with one bed. It was cramped and the TV was old, but nothing else was seriously wrong. The atmosphere was decent aside from a couple of likely false fire alarms. Morning service means you need to leave early if you want the room cleaned.

The place felt like a dump, and the way the TV issue was handled seemed scammy. Before arriving, I called to reserve and asked for a room with a smart TV. They said that would be no problem, but the room had an old cable TV instead. They wouldn't refund me, even though that wasn't what I had been promised. I may take this to small claims court and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. On top of that, my door was already open when I got my card, so I'm sure bugs got in.

The balcony view of the San Fransico peaks was incredible, and the room was roomy, with a very comfortable bed. It was a reasonable price and an easy place to find, with lots of parking. Check-in was simple, breakfast was free, and the room was cleaned and towels changed every day. They also supplied free shampoo, conditioner and bar soap. Restaurants and gas stations were close, with Target and Walmart an easy walk away. There were problems too. The hot tub was broken, which was the main reason I picked the hotel, and the TV's could use an upgrade to smart TV's. On our last night the commode clogged, and the room phone didn't work when we tried to call the front desk. I'd stay again if the hot tub was working.

We came up to Flagstaff for a day in the snow and needed somewhere to stay overnight. The woman at the desk was really nice at check-in, and the beds were super comfy. The room was clean and cozy. It looked a little dated, but that didn't bother us.
