The lobby was really beautiful, and the rooms and parking were pretty much as described. My family and I stayed one night to get out of the house and explore for a day. The night auditor, whose name I didn’t get, was amazing. One piece fan! The woman who checked us in, Shana, was rude and didn’t make us feel welcome. She seemed irritated when we asked basic questions. Because of that service, I’m not sure we’d stay again.

We didn’t get any sleep, and the hotel never followed up on our complaints. The exposed pipe behind my husband’s bedside made a loud banging sound for about five minutes every two hours. On top of that, there was loud music and noise from people until 6am, followed by trash pickup at 6:30. We went to bed at 11pm and couldn’t sleep. When we reported it, the employee said the bar across the street had been a problem and police were called frequently, but the bar didn’t care. She also said she hadn’t heard about the pipe in a long time. The shower head didn’t work, so I used the handheld wand. It popped off the hose during my shower and flew around the bathroom and onto my clothes. My husband couldn’t shower, and it happened again the second night. We’d reserved the nicest room described on the website for graduation and chose the downtown location for its onsite bars. A nice employee greeted us, but we found only 8 free parking spaces and hardly any paid spots on the street or in lots. Some spaces had to be vacated by 8am, so the website was misleading. We overpaid for this rundown hotel and were extremely disappointed.

The hotel was beautiful, and I had a great time on the ghost tour with Scott. I learned a lot about the hotel’s history, and really liked getting to try the different ghost hunting equipment and experiments myself. We had a fun group, and even though I went alone, I didn’t feel out of place.

I loved staying at the Weatherford in a Queen room. It was clean and spacious for a historic hotel, and I liked the hallway photos showing early Flagstaff. I came by train, so being close to the station was a plus. If you’re looking for quiet, though, that proximity may not suit you. Love the Weatherford!

We won’t stay at the Weatherford Hotel again. My husband and I were in Room 43 on December 13th, and loud pounding from the radiator pipes woke us every hour to hour and a half through the night. We knew a historic hotel might have quirks and some bar noise, but this was far beyond tolerable or part of the “historic charm.” We’ve stayed in lots of historic hotels, including the Monte Vista down the street, and never had anything like it. No one had told us how severe the pipe noise was. When we talked to the front desk, they said management would get in touch, but nobody ever did. Customer service itself was excellent, truly above and beyond. If you stay at the Weatherford, I strongly recommend avoiding Room 43 until the radiator system is fixed. It’s impossible to get a full night’s sleep there.
