Royal River Casino and Hotel

It’s been very quiet here, but there’s no breakfast unless you buy it through the restaurant or room service. The beds are hard and uncomfortable, and the wall-mounted TV is too high and can’t be adjusted. The bathroom also needs attention. A wall tile was coming loose, and there was a big gap between the showerhead and the wall. It took over 10 minutes for the tub or shower water to warm up, while the sink faucet got warm in about 30 seconds. I’m not sure why. Disappointed with the stay so far.

The beds are rock hard, and the walls are so thin that I could hear the men next door snoring even with two noise machines running. I called the front desk, but they couldn’t help. For what I paid for the room, I expected to get a peaceful night’s sleep. I haven’t been back in years, and after this terrible stay, I won’t be returning.

The waitress was pleasant, attentive, and helpful, which was the only real bright spot. The buffet selection was limited, and the roast beef was chewy, not cooked properly, and only lukewarm at best. My wife and I went for the all-you-can-eat crab legs, but they were room temperature and just okay. At $50 per person, the meal was less than stellar. Go in through the hotel entrance. The casino side smelled overwhelmingly like stale cigarette smoke. Even if I’d wanted to gamble, that smell would have put me off. Without the helpful waitress, I would’ve given one star.

The room was spacious, clean, and well kept. The prime rib buffet was just okay, not good, and the choices beyond the prime rib were very limited. The prime rib itself wasn’t great, though the salad bar was good.
