Mill House Lodge

The setting was adorable, and we loved the lake or pond, the pool, and the atmosphere. It’s also very close to downtown. But the room was so disappointing that it cut our trip short. There was no central AC, the beds were springy, the window AC unit wasn’t properly installed, and the rooms had a slight smell. We both slept terribly and left a day early. Breakfast was advertised at check-in but wasn’t available when I went to get it. That made for a rough morning because I’m pregnant and my husband had taken the car for a hike, expecting I’d have food. I wish I could give more stars, because there’s so much potential here, but the rooms were awful. We won’t return unless there’s an update. I hope things change, though after this stay I’m not sure I’d risk coming back.

We stayed in a room by the pond in March 2017, and the rustic feel was my favorite part. I loved having morning coffee on the deck. The room was very clean and nice. When I check a hotel room, I wonder what my grandma would think, and she would have loved this one. I’ll definitely come back.

The staff we spoke with were all really nice and accommodating, and seemed to genuinely want us to have a great time. The lodge-style rooms are really nice, and there’s a beautiful private lake with kayaks, canoes, and paddleboats, plus life jackets for guests. We even spotted a white squirrel living in the tree right outside our room. I’d never seen one before, too cool!

This was our second year here to celebrate our anniversary. The managers were pleasant, and the rooms were neat and clean. We enjoyed the quiet, lovely setting, with fishing and boating on the lake and outdoor grills. It’s a perfect spot to relax, and there are eateries and activities nearby too. Come enjoy.
