Best Western Plus Crown Colony Inn & Suites

The room’s water pressure was great, and John (I believe) at the front desk was genuinely helpful. He apologized, moved us when we raised the problems, and discounted the room by about $40. He did the best he could, and I appreciated how he handled it. Management, though, never called or texted after he took my number, and that’s why I’m writing this. We chose the hotel because reviews said it was clean. After an eight-hour drive, we found coffee splashed on the walls, floors that hadn’t been vacuumed, and other issues. The second room was just as bad, with hair everywhere, torn sheets, and Zyn pouches under the bed. I have photos. I wasn’t comfortable going barefoot, let alone sleeping in the bed. If management had followed up and tried to address it, I wouldn’t be posting this. For a clean place to stay, I’d look elsewhere. John’s service and the water pressure were the only bright spots.

The staff here are so friendly. Every person I’ve come across has had a smile, and breakfast is served with the same cheerful attitude. The breakfast itself is better than most hotels. I also love the lobby coffee station, where you can get cappuccino, espresso, or regular coffee, decaf or not, any time of day. There’s a fresh water dispenser beside it, too. I’ve been back and forth to Lufkin over the past month and a half, staying at Hilton and Best Western hotels, and this one has been my favorite for service. It may be at least 20 years old, but it’s always clean and smells fresh. The in-room TV is upgraded and lets you use streaming accounts instead of the old hotel channels full of commercials. The pool sparkles, the parking lot seems safe, and three good restaurants back onto it. Five stars from me!

The breakfast was really nice. The rooms were in decent shape, and while it wasn’t the cleanest hotel I’ve stayed in, it wasn’t dirty either.

A very nice room and good service, plus a great breakfast with plenty of choices. This is one of the nicest Best Westerns I’ve visited. The location’s handy too, with restaurants within walking distance.
