We had a farewell brunch at the hotel’s Garden Terrace, and the food was good with very attentive service. The weather was perfect, which made the morning even nicer. My husband and I booked a wedding room block here in April and were happy with everything throughout the weekend. Service was great, the rooms were very nice, and the suites we reserved for getting ready were spacious enough for our groups. With most guests coming from out of town, the DoubleTree’s location near the Pruneyard shopping center and downtown Campbell was ideal. We all enjoyed eating and shopping at the nearby businesses. Jonathan, Anna, and Jimmy answered our many questions and offered helpful suggestions, so booking was easy. If you’re getting married nearby, I’d definitely recommend a room block here.

We felt safe throughout the stay, and the two-bedroom suite was spacious, spotless, and a good value for the price. The beds were very comfortable too. But as Hilton Honors members who usually rely on Hilton for family trips, we found the service professional without the warm, extra-welcoming touch we’re used to at other DoubleTree hotels. The property is showing its age: the AC seemed worn, noise from above came through the poorly insulated windows, and there were maintenance oddities like a misaligned bathroom handle and random tile work. It wasn’t a bad stay, but it didn’t quite meet the standard Hilton usually sets.

The beds are comfortable, which matters most to me. Breakfast is decent, and the small gym is adequately equipped, with dumbbells up to 70 pounds. Still, paying $300 or more most nights is a joke for this kind of motel, probably because of its location. I wouldn’t stay here if my company weren’t paying. TownePlace Suites by Marriott San Jose Campbell feels exactly the same to me, with slightly worse breakfast, but costs about half as much.

I stayed May 6-7 and the noise ruined the night. Loud music from the next room went on until 3 a.m.; I ended up falling asleep with earplugs after calling the front desk at least five times. Each time, they seemed surprised it was still playing and asked which room it came from, as if keeping order were my job. The useless staff did nothing about it. I lost sleep and my workday was wrecked. On the drive home I nearly went off the road because I was close to falling asleep at the wheel. I wasted money when I could’ve slept better at home and driven to work in San Jose early. I travel to SanJose for work every other week, and since then I’ve found plenty of other places with better quality for the same money. Strongly do not recommend.

My family woke up frightened on our first night when someone ran down the hall around 3-4 a.m. and kicked three different doors. That may not have been directly the hotel’s fault, but it says something about the kind of guests staying here. We could also clearly hear people talking and making noise outside late at night because the soundproofing was poor. Another morning, while I was showering and my wife was asleep, a man knocked and then came into the room. Is it normal for a male staff member to enter at 8 a.m. for housekeeping? Staff should knock and give guests enough time to answer first. Most staff were friendly, but one person was kind of rude, and I’d rather not get into it. People book Hilton Worldwide hotels with certain minimum expectations. This place made me reconsider the standards and reputation I associated with the brand. I’ll never visit again.
