Comfort Inn Asheville Airport

A comfortable, clean refurbished room had the usual amenities plus a microwave, fridge, and coffee and tea maker. The lobby had two cozy fireside seating spots and a pleasant area for breakfast. Reception staff were courteous and helpful. It’s convenient to I-26 and the airport, with plenty of nearby restaurants, some within walking distance. Great value.

The rooms look nice and breakfast was decent, but that’s about all I liked. The toilet handle didn’t work, the pullout mattress springs could be felt, and setting up the pullout was difficult.

After ten hours of travel hassles and a lot of flight changes, I was stuck in Asheville for three more days during the storm and tried to find a last minute hotel near the airport. Nothing worked in my Expedia app when I tried booking two different places. I eventually booked the Marriot because that app worked. I didn’t realize the other reservation had gone through until the next morning, and now they won’t refund me. Being greedy is one thing, but during a storm? That’s sick.

The location is great and the room was clean, but the stay was unpleasant. I wouldn’t come back. You get what you pay for, I guess. The room seemed to have old water damage painted over, and there was a transition strip by the closet that I tripped over several times, where one floor type met another. The bed was hard and had little cushion. I didn’t know my room was directly below a gym. After work, I could hear loud thumping and banging. At the desk, they said the gym was upstairs and asked if I wanted to go tell the people there to stop. I said that wasn’t fair to them either, since they may have booked with an accessible gym in mind. Breakfast was very basic, with no flavored creamer, just half & half, though the waffle was good. The staff were nice, but the room, its placement, and the hard bed were all unpleasant. There’s another hotel across from it that I’d check out next time. Also, don’t use the back exit at night. The route by the pool goes behind a shed along a small path before reaching the parking lot, and it’s a VERY unsafe blind spot.
