We travel often for tournaments, but we'll take our business elsewhere after this stay. The rooms were subpar, and the real deal-breaker was how little hospitality or flexibility we got from the front desk. My 13-year-old daughter was repeatedly stopped and told she couldn't walk down the hallway without a parent, even just to get a snack or visit a teammate. It felt like new printed rules kept appearing over the weekend and being enforced as issues came up. On Friday, parents from the team sat quietly in the lobby until 10 p.m., without being loud or disruptive. By Saturday morning, a new sign said groups over 13 couldn't gather anywhere on the property, even though the hotel knew it had booked rooms for our softball team. To follow the new rules, we reserved a conference room for Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m. Game schedules, traffic delays from a widespread local power outage, and another outage at the hotel meant we got there around 7 to 7:30. They said the reservation had been canceled because we hadn't checked in by 7. The room was empty and no one else needed it, so it was frustrating that they made no effort to accommodate a large group of paying guests who had booked it until 11. If hosting youth sports teams is a problem, they should reconsider offering group rates and booking codes for those events.

The room was clean, and the whirlpool tub worked perfectly. The front desk expected me by name at check-in and offered extra pillows. The location, rate, staff, and included breakfast were all on point. I especially appreciated having the whirlpool suite. Living with a painful chronic illness and trying to enjoy life, having that tub in the room makes a huge difference. The microwave and mini fridge with a small freezer for my back ice pack were great too. We'll be back!

The lobby is nice, and having a pool and hot tub is a plus. The floors are a bit dirty, though not terrible, and someone should take the initiative to tidy things up around the place. There are also lots of weeds in the landscaping. It's okay.

Kyla at the front desk at night and Matt in the morning are both very friendly. Diane, who manages the dining and breakfast area, is accommodating and kind, and goes out of her way every day to make sure you have what you need. The dining area is always clean, with everything fresh and well stocked. I enjoy staying at the Best Western Flint.

The location may be the only real positive. The rooms need a lot of TLC, and the beds are worn out. Breakfast is fine, but get there early if you want the best selection. The shuttle service is the big problem: they won't provide it for flights before 11 a.m. Our flight was at 10, and service didn't start until 9, which leaves no realistic way to get through TSA safely with only an hour or less before departure. Use Uber for transportation, and don't call the taxi services the front desk may offer.
