Quality Inn And Suites Walnut

I appreciated being able to get a room in the middle of the night, since nearby hotels said they had a cutoff time for taking guests. The price was inexpensive, but I'd have to be paid to stay again. There's a loud bang just outside my door every few minutes, apparently from careless staff, and the ground shakes. The noise goes on at all hours. The building is very old, the floors creak, and little seems to have been updated in years. My sink was clogged and wouldn't drain at all. The room gets too warm, so even in winter I had to turn on the wall AC unit. It smells very musty and clearly hasn't been cleaned in far too long. Sleep in your car.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from: cereal, fruit, juice, pastries, waffles, and yogurt. The employees I dealt with were pleasant, and I slept comfortably. The price is competitive, though there are reasons for that. At first glance the room looked fine, but closer inspection turned up greasy residue on the complimentary shampoo bottle and stains on the sheets. I only noticed after checking in, otherwise I might have asked for housekeeping or another room. I ended up avoiding that side of the bed.

After our house had to be tented, we first booked another motel for May 23 to May 26, but it was disgusting. I quickly reserved two rooms at Quality Inn instead, and I'm so glad I did. Our rooms were spotless, and the grounds were kept clean, with someone always cleaning. Everyone we encountered, from housekeeping to the rest of the staff, greeted us kindly. The breakfast bar was better than expected, with waffles, fresh fried eggs, bacon, toast, gravy, oatmeal, cereal, coffee and tea, and juice. The lobby, breakfast area, entry, and hallways were clean and well cared for, with bright carpeting and clean walls. There seemed to be plenty of parking, and the front area was tidy. Check in was friendly and efficient, and the agent explained everything professionally. I booked through the Quality Inn website for the best available price. The location is in a business park and light industrial area just north of Fullerton, near La Habrá and off the 60. Security seemed okay. One odd problem: the room they assigned already had a guest in it, so I had to go back for a different one. In 30 years of business travel, that had never happened to me. My room was generally clean, but the bathroom fixtures showed water damage, there were hairs in the shower, and the toilet seat was loose. The walls must be thin because I could hear everything from next door until 2am and had to call the front desk to ask them to quiet down.
