TownePlace Suites by Marriott Florence

Whitney and Lisa made my morning with their funny, easygoing service. I'll be back in March. The room was clean and seemed recently renovated, and it had no pet smell even though my small dog and I were put on the second floor with the pet parents. It was also surprisingly quiet for a Saturday night. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and there's lots of dining close by, just off i95. As a Bonvoy elite member, this is what I expect from the Marriott brand, so thanks for meeting those expectations.

Whitney handled my safety concern with real care. When she came on duty, she listened, arranged a new room, helped move my belongings, and made sure my furry companion and I were comfortable. She even turned down a tip, saying she just wanted to make sure my stay was comfortable. She showed what hospitality and professionalism should look like, and I give her 5 stars. The problem started when I found the door to my assigned room propped open after checking in. I returned to the desk feeling unsafe, but Taylor was dismissive. She said housekeeping probably left it open after cleaning and told me to go in, close and lock it, then sleep. That felt unprofessional and lacking in empathy. I waited for the shift change because I didn't feel comfortable, and Whitney's response was completely different. I usually choose Marriott properties in the Florence area because I trust their commitment to comfort and service. I hope management addresses this and gives staff the coaching they need to handle safety concerns with urgency and care. I also hope Whitney is recognized for her service. My interaction with Taylor would get 1 star. It makes me wonder how other guests' concerns are treated.

It was lovely seeing the Hydro workers come from all across your country to support each other before a catastrophe happens. You folks have it all together, unlike us Canadians, who wait two or three days. Bless you. 🙏 We had a wonderful stay in the two-bedroom, and breakfast was lovely. I'd just prefer regular sausage over sausage rounds. 😉

Hanna was especially helpful. We were running late and asked for extra amenities in the room, and she made sure everything was ready before we arrived. She also keeps the property doors locked for security, while promptly opening them as guests come in. The rooms were clean and the property well maintained. It's a great stop on a drive, and I'd highly recommend staying here. Five stars for the service from Hanna!
