Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Florida City

The room was extremely filthy, even though the outside of the motel is cute and makes it look nicer than it is. There were dead roaches inside, the tub hadn't been cleaned, and the sheets and bed cover were stained and dirty. The bed looked like it had been remade from the previous guests, so we bought our own pillows and sheets from Walmart. The owner charged me $10 for towels and then tried to take more money from my account, even though we left the room clean and untouched and checked out a day early. The door wouldn't lock whether we were inside or out for the day. They only tried to lock it for us after they saw us taking pictures. There were drug addicts, dealers, and drunks wandering around the parking lot day and night. The location gets five stars from me because it's a great spot near Biscayne Bay card sound or the keys, close to lots of fun things to do and nearby shopping, and the area seems decent. Still, I definitely recommend choosing a different motel or hotel. Stay away.

The manager refused to refund us and Expedia said they'd only give us credit for a future night. We wouldn't use that. We tried multiple times to get a refund after contacting the front desk that evening, but nobody offered us a different room. The staff told us to contact the booking platform, and they didn't seem surprised by the problems. We booked last minute because there were few options, and checked in around 8 PM. The property immediately looked different from the listing photos. The room had roaches, a strong smoke smell, stains on the walls and curtains, a dirty bathroom, and rust in the tub and on the walls around it. We can't upload photos here, but the listing images seem outdated and may be from an earlier renovation. Check the Google reviews, which I think are more accurate. This listing should be taken down or updated with recent photos.

The location is convenient for Everglades NP or Key Biscayne, but the hotel photos I saw online didn't seem current or accurate. The room was in disrepair and not very clean, as you can see from the walls in the photos. The door wasn't fully attached to its hinges. To be transparent, I didn't ask for a different room, but they were fully aware of its condition.

If all you need is a bed and a shower, the price is cheap for Miami. The rooms are a bit bigger because the hotel is old, and they did a recent paint job, but the bathrooms need to be torn out. The televisions don't work properly, they won't turn on or change channels. The girl at the front office is very helpful, but she can't fix the place. You'll be around dirty guests who smoke like chimneys, with lots of noise from US-1. If you want to avoid headaches, keep driving.
