Holiday Inn Express & Suites Florida City by IHG

The room itself was clean, with comfortable beds and good pillows, but the water problems made the stay mediocre. The shower pressure was weak. On the second night, the water went off for hours, then came back with an awful noise that woke me instantly. My wife asked what on earth it was. It was our toilet, whose tank was empty, and I still don't know why it screamed. I heard neighboring doors open and shut. I get up to use the bathroom every night. The same thing happened on the third night, when I urgently needed a working bathroom because of a stomach problem. Food poisoning meant we left in the dark, though that wasn't Holiday Inn's fault. The bathroom issues that made it worse are something I do hold Holiday Inn responsible for.

Breakfast was good, and the staff there were friendly and helpful. We stayed four nights, but the carpet in the main area still had crumbs, dust, and bits of trash that were there when we checked in. After I spilled a little water in the bathroom, I used a towel to wipe the floor and it came away black with dirt. I dropped something by the tiled entry and, when I picked it up, was shocked by how filthy it was all along the wall.

The breakfast was hot, fresh, and tasty, but seating fills up fast, so get there early. The bed was comfy and the room clean, and the pool was nice. Both women at reception were delightful.

Reginald Henry at the breakfast area deserves a special mention. He was so kind and thoughtful. We had a great stay overall, with an amazing breakfast and a clean room and bathroom. The staff were accommodating and let us stay an extra hour after we checked in quite late the day before.
