Best Western Plus Flowood Inn & Suites

Sam was helpful and friendly when we asked for a first-floor room. Everything felt clean, from the hallways, lobby, and stairs to the fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The pool was clean and well maintained, and fresh hot coffee was available in the lobby throughout our stay. Beds were comfortable, and breakfast had a decent variety. We stayed three nights and had a very pleasant time.

The breakfast choices didn’t really do it for me, but the coffee machine impressed me. It makes lattes, cappuccino, coffee, and hot chocolate. They also have carts for carrying your things, which I loved. A real diamond in the rough.

The room never cooled properly. The thermostat said 68, but it felt more like 75, and the bed left my back hurting every morning. The shower floor was very slick, and I slipped twice. There were other hassles too. The WiFi didn’t work, though no one told us, so I had to watch the very basic cable instead of using my Roku. The luggage carts are too small for much luggage, and things can fall off before you even get inside. There was never anyone at the desk when I needed them, so checking out in a hurry would be difficult. I wouldn’t stay here again.

The front desk staff were friendly and professional, and MAGGIE and TRACYE deserve five stars for their customer service. The rooms are dated, but very clean, and the housekeepers clearly take pride in their work. The hotel was clean and smelled nice. The parking lot was brightly lit, with lots of cameras. The coffee machine was great. The breakfast attendant is why I’m giving two stars. She was rude and aggressive, and spent most of the time on her phone. She cursed about mud workers had tracked onto the floor, and told another guest the eggs were crunchy because they rewarm the food, adding that people could eat it or throw it out. We skipped breakfast after overhearing that the food had been warmed up from the morning before. We hope that wasn’t true, but we didn’t know. She never said good morning, and her tip jar made us laugh. We could have raised the issue, but thought she’d only get worse. The place is a little outdated but well kept, and the front desk staff are great. Don’t let one rotten apple bring the establishment down. We won’t be back because we like to have breakfast and don’t want to feel uncomfortable first thing in the morning.
