The Westin had good decor and that familiar appealing scent, and the room was clean with nothing broken. The location was convenient too. Still, we were disappointed, especially since they advertised it as Flushing's only 5-star hotel. The pool is closed from 1-5 PM, which was surprising. We've used pools at many hotels, including lower-cost places like Holiday Inn and Courtyard, and haven't seen another one closed for several daytime hours. The bedding changes were also a letdown, though that's a Westin-wide issue, not specific to this hotel. Over the last year the pillows became very thick and hard, instead of the just-right thickness and firmness they used to have. The comforter is less comfortable too. Sleeping at a Westin used to be enjoyable, but now it's a challenge. I probably won't stay with the brand again because of the uncomfortable bedding.

Anya Jae (Aj) at the front desk surprised us with treats and a lovely room upgrade for our honeymoon. We’re so grateful to be celebrating here. Quincy was kind when we returned to the hotel, and efficiently got our luggage so we could head to our room. 10/10, highly recommend. We'd stay again!

The room itself was modern enough, and the renovation was decent, but for around USD 300 a night, the guest experience fell short. At check-in, nobody mentioned that bottled water is limited to two bottles per stay, no matter how many nights you book. After that, you're expected to refill them at the water center. I'd already thrown the bottles away, thinking they'd be replenished daily, and wound up without drinking water. The coffee maker was broken when I arrived and wasn't replaced until the next day. Tap water initially had noticeable white particles floating in it, so I had to let it sit before using it, which made the bottled water limit even more frustrating. Housekeeping also didn't replenish tea bags after I used them. I've stayed at other Westin hotels and never had these problems. For this price and brand, that level of service isn't acceptable. Hilton or Sheraton seem like better value and more consistent, and until these gaps are fixed, I can't recommend this one. Even a Holiday Inn feels like a better deal, at least breakfast is usually included. The facilities are fine, but the basics and service don't live up to the price or brand.

Two days after I checked in, I was charged a pet fee even though my friend's dog had only come in to help drop off my luggage. At check-in, I signed a form saying a dog could cost $150 per night, but explained that the dog wasn't staying. Staff said there'd be no charge if we left within 15 minutes. We were gone within 5. I contacted the hotel and said they could check the security cameras. They promised to refund the charge but never did. When I called again, they said there was nothing they could do because I'd signed the form. That doesn't make sense, since it only covered pets staying overnight, which didn't happen. There was no heat in my room, the soundproofing was poor, and the bathroom design was terrible: a huge room but a tiny shower that sent water all over the floor. The whole experience was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Be careful, they may charge unfairly. I wouldn't stay again or recommend this hotel.

The rate was great, and I’d stay here again. I found this recently remodeled hotel a handy place to spend the night between connecting flights. It’s between JFK and LaGuardia in NYC, with a gym, steam room, restaurant, and bar on site. The staff were helpful, and there’s a shuttle to and from LaGuardia only.
