TownePlace Suites by Marriott Foley at OWA

The room had baby roaches, which I photographed, and there were hairs on the bathroom floor and door when I arrived. Kids were also running through the halls until 1 a.m.; I had to stick my head out several times to correct them. For what this hotel charges, I expected them to keep an eye on that, especially since it's family friendly and unsupervised children can disturb other guests. I also don't think the stay was worth the price. I booked in February because the hotel is close to OWA, but on the morning I traveled, I saw the rate had dropped a lot. With the OWA tickets included, I would have saved about $320 out of pocket. I brought up Marriott's best rate guarantee, which covers a claim made within 24 hours, but the hotel said they couldn't adjust anything and never pointed me to Marriott's claim form. They said a bunch of cancellations had caused the price to fall. Marriott later told me that if I'd filed within 24 hours, I would have qualified. Had I canceled in time, I'd have stayed at the Home 2 suites up the street, just a few minutes away, which I think is worth the money. Marriott corporate did give me 10k points as an apology, but I don't travel often, and this was a special trip for my son. I plan to visit OWA again, but I won't stay here. It's too expensive for the quality, and they neither honored the rate guarantee nor directed me to the right way to claim it.

The location puts you right in the middle of everything, and we had a lovely stay. Our room worked perfectly for us, especially the good-sized kitchen and the sofa bed that saved us with the little ones. The staff were so nice, and having the pool open until 10 p.m. was great. Two things could be better: breakfast needs more choices for people with lactose intolerance or cheese allergies, and the partly open shower leaves the floor wet and slippery. We'll definitely be back.

Daniesha was such a help when we had to leave our house quickly because of mold. It was a really stressful time, but she was kind and made the whole process easy, making sure we were looked after. The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed. We really appreciate her great service. My only wish is that breakfast had more fruit and less processed food.

Our room was clean, and housekeeping came quickly. The hotel also has a heated pool and free breakfast with something for everyone. Great service there, too. The location is handy, with everything we needed within a five-minute drive, including a tangler outlet and some great restaurants. Orange beach is 24 minutes away.
