Kelsey keeps guests in the loop about things going on around town, like the yearly Tour De Fat, and even has bikes available for rides around the city. The location is lovely too, close to Old Town. I felt safe there, and the other guests were great to interact with. Kelsey and all the staff are such lovely people. I wish I had a reason to stay again, but I live in Fort Collins now. Five stars is the limit, though I’d happily give this beautiful place more. I can’t recommend it enough.
We came back in 2019 and stayed in the Loft, a private space on the top floor. Fernweh feels like a vacation by itself. We were very comfortable, and felt fine letting our girls explore the house. When it was warm, the garden was a nice place to unwind, and the kids liked the hammocks. The kitchen is lovely and well stocked. We made breakfast there, and the staff also baked a rustic loaf each day. There’s a grocery store very close by, and Lucky's is an easy walk or about a three minute drive. On our first visit in 2017, my young daughter and I spent two nights in the private Hideaway room. She had fun poking around the house, and I enjoyed it too. The owner was friendly and professional. It’s a hostel, so guests come and go more than they might at a typical place, but everyone we met was great. We ate takeout in the well-equipped kitchen and liked the social feel. The beautiful, airy Victorian house has a funky, homey atmosphere that made the stay a treat.
The bike share made it easy to get around, and old village was still within walking distance. This was my favorite of the two Fort Collins hostels I stayed in. The house is beautiful, with modern touches and a bohemian feel inside what looks like a 1920s home. It’s well cared for, and the staff are awesome. The owner clearly loves the city and goes out of her way to share details and help you see what makes it special. A great place to recharge and meet nice people.
I came with my sister and my dog, and it was lovely that he could make a little playmate of the hostel dog, Hugo. We also enjoyed the patio, complimentary bikes, and free parking. The owner is so welcoming, the rooms are comfortable and stylish, and the price is very reasonable. Everything was great. Highly recommend!
Fernweh is a gorgeous house just a short walk from downtown, and you can borrow bikes to head into old town. What stood out most was the sense of community as soon as I walked in. The staff were welcoming and easy to approach, and there were always guests around who I had things in common with and could chat to. One of the best overnight stays I’ve had. Easily my favorite place to stay in Fort Collins.
