Brookstone Fort Dodge

Conveniently located near good stores like Walmart and Target, this newer hotel was a good choice compared with others nearby. The room was clean and the staff were friendly. I'd recommend it and will stay again.

The one thing going for this place was its location near my mother's house. I was born and raised in Fort Dodge, and this service was unacceptable, especially when I come home. The staff were rude and nearly disrespectful. When we found a large crack in the tub, it leaked badly enough that we had to switch rooms. The young woman who helped us acted annoyed and said she needed permission to move us. I saw the same woman snap at a lounge guest who asked for butter. She shouldn't be dealing with people. Breakfast was called continental, but there was no fruit. I had to ask at 7 a.m. whether they were going to start the coffee machine. Garbage stayed in the elevator all four days. The only employee who greeted us or smiled was the housekeeper. The laundry staff stared and never smiled or spoke. The lobby printer had no ink, and the manager didn't seem to care. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

With few places to stay in Fort Dodge, I hoped this would work out, but it was one of my worst experiences. The staff weren't friendly or helpful, and there was no daily room cleaning even when we asked. Breakfast offered little and no fruit, and the tables weren't clean, so we had to wipe our own. The sheets and pillowcases felt rough. My husband and I ended up stopping for coffee off-site every morning.

The hotel is pretty basic, but the beds are comfortable and it has what you need. The location is convenient. Randi and Brian were especially helpful, friendly, and accommodating.
