Fortuna Hotel

For an affordable stay right by the beach, this is the place. The rooms are nice and parking is great. Customer service is excellent too: they respond and take care of whatever concerns or needs you have.

I booked this for my birthday because the advertised photos made it look like a decent place. The reality was completely different. The room was neglected and poorly maintained, with worn finishes, damaged blinds and curtains that wouldn’t fully close. There was hair on the wall of the shower, dirty towels, and beds with holes and broken parts that made it impossible to sleep comfortably. Outside noise made the night even worse. Rest is the bare minimum I expect when booking, and that just wasn’t possible here. I asked for a refund without even going into the room, but they offered only 10% back. They did contact me, but not until the next afternoon, even though their policies say there’s a cutoff after which they no longer issue full refunds. The manager reached out several times afterward. I chose not to let it ruin my day, but the place isn’t worth that price, and there are much better options. I’d never return.

I’d stayed at the Fortuna many times and always enjoyed it, but a recent visit had very poor service. I was ready to rate the service badly and never come back. Gabriel turned things around, though, and made the experience good again. I’ll be returning soon.

I wouldn’t stay here again. It was the most horrible place to stay in Fort Lauderdale.
