La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Fort Lauderdale Tamarac

The room was clean, roomy, and the bed was comfortable, though newer pillows would help. Check-in was quick, and the Bahamian and Jamaican front desk staff were warm and especially good at helping me with the computer and printer. I come from the Bahamas for short getaways and usually choose this La Quinta Inns because it’s easy and relaxing. This time, though, I didn’t get the specific room I’d asked for, which was disappointing after previous stays. The computer has also been out of order for about nine months, and that’s been inconvenient.

Housekeeping kept my room spotless and fresh throughout the stay, and the breakfast team kept the area clean, organized, and stocked. They were kind and attentive, with a good range of choices that made mornings pleasant. The front desk staff were just as patient and welcoming, always checking that I was comfortable and had what I needed. Manager Arman deserves a special thank you. He was thoughtful and attentive, and made a real effort to help me feel at ease. The whole team made me feel valued. I’d happily come back to La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Fort Lauderdale Tamarac, and recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, welcoming, well-run hotel. Thanks to all of them for such a positive stay.

I paid $139 a night for a stay that turned into my worst hotel experience. There was a strong marijuana odor that kept me awake, on top of a terrible smell when I first entered. The carpets were stained and dirty, and the tub was chipped and worn. I left my Apple Watch charger behind and phoned the front desk an hour after checkout. They brushed me off and said they hadn't found it. The online photos look nothing like the actual place. I'd give it zero stars if that were possible. Avoid it.

The service was par excellent, and the staff made sure I was treated well. La Quinta is a good hotel chain, though the rooms could use a little more work.
