Luxury Condo on the Beach

The hotel smelled musty and old, the pool was very small, and the rooms and bathrooms were dated. Service was god-awful, with no customer service to speak of. I was appalled by the whole experience. Definitely don’t recommend staying here. Stay somewhere else.

The giant cockroach that came out from under the couch the night before we left ruined the stay. We’d ordered room service and were eating in the living room, but after seeing it we were too grossed out to finish the expensive food. We wasted over $120 worth of room service and never got a real apology or compensation. Management offered another $50 food and beverage credit, but it never came off the final invoice. Before that, most things had gone well. This was my second visit, so I’d enjoyed the first stay enough to return. Check-in was delayed because our room wasn’t ready, and my wife and I went to Spinnakers by the pool for lunch. The food was good, though quite expensive, as expected. When the room was ready, we unexpectedly got upgraded from an oceanfront suite to an oceanfront residence. It was large and had a good view. Staff at the Conrad Ft. Lauderdale Beach were kind, sincere, and helpful, and the location is very nice. They even brought an anniversary cupcake to mark 19 years since the day my wife and I met. But after what happened, I can’t recommend this hotel.

We’ve stayed here twice and both visits were inspiring, romantic, and above all relaxing. This is our spot now, and we’re already planning to return. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, always smiling from the bellmen at the entrance through to the front desk. The service and accommodations have the attention you’d expect at a Conrad. Both Vitolo and Takato have great food, excellent Happy Hour menus, and good staffing, while keeping prices from feeling inflated. As a Diamond Member, we were upgraded to a junior suite with a partial ocean view, but chose to downgrade to a two queen oceanfront room instead. If I book a beachfront hotel, I want the beachfront in view, not part of it alongside a building. You give up a small living room, but the oceanfront rooms have 180° panoramic views of the beach, A1A, and the ocean. It’s a wonderful view to wake up to and the last one before bed. Hardly a downgrade to me. The beachfront is for Conrad guests only. The resort fee, waived for Diamond Members, gets you two chairs, an umbrella, and waters. Get there before 10:30-11am because spots fill fast. Staff arrive at 9am. Drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and a smaller menu are available and delivered to your chairs. Food and drinks on the beach aren’t cheap, so be ready for that, but it’s a lovely experience to relax, listen to the waves, and have frozen drinks and quality food brought to you.

The beach was really close and easy to reach, and the kids were happiest at the pool. It was breezy there, but on an 80-degree-plus day that felt great. We all loved the stay, from the clean rooms, with twice-daily room service if needed, to the top-notch staff. My wife, kids, and I would come back. My one gripe is valet-only parking at a steep $55 a day.
