Ramada Plaza Ft. Lauderdale

I booked a room four days ahead on the hotel’s actual website, but ended up being told to find another hotel. I arrived at 3pm and the front desk clerk was on the phone with a personal friend. After telling her a guest was waiting, she hung up. I started to show my ID, but she stopped me and said check-in was at 4pm. I came back at 4pm to a line. The hotel system had gone down, but the clerk paced around without telling anyone what was happening. About an hour later, when I was next, she looked up my reservation and said the system was still down and couldn’t take credit cards. Prepaid bookings were fine, and she said I could pay cash or return later to see if the system came back. I came back about two hours later, when there was no line. I asked if the system was working as I handed over my ID. She said it was, but the hotel was sold out. She then told me my reservation had been canceled because the rooms were over booked. There was no communication with people waiting about what was going on. They should have announced that the system couldn’t take credit cards so guests would know what to do. Staff need better customer service training. I’ve never experienced anything like this. This is why some businesses don’t get supported. The place isn’t well kept, and customer service does not exist. I’ll never recommend this hotel or try to book it again. HORRIBLE ON EVERY LEVEL.

It’s a little rough around the edges, but for the price it wasn’t bad. The rooms were clean, sheets fresh, water pressure great, and no hard water problems. A few appliances and other things gave us trouble, but the staff were helpful and quick to try repairs. The security guy was especially cool, professional, and on top of things. Give that man a raise 😂💯 It’s one of the cheaper places around, so all kinds of people come through. I’ve enjoyed my stay overall, and we’ll be here until our project is finished.

Renovations are still going on, but they’re selling rooms that don’t seem quite ready for guests. Reviews say there’s been no ice for several months, and staff apologized for that issue. Our room had newer furniture but too few outlets for appliances. There was no hair dryer, fridge, or microwave. The hallway looked unfinished, with lots of ugly doors. Staff quickly brought the missing pieces we asked for, like a garbage can and coffee service, though the broader work in progress seems beyond their ability to change. There were too many half-dressed young people roaming the halls.

This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I was there the 9th -10th. Of January, and the room was filthy, with a nasty tub, holes in the door, missing doors on rooms, no phone, and a fridge sitting on the floor. Weed smell was everywhere from people staying at the hotel. A man who was also staying there kept knocking on are door. The pool and hot tub were dirty. The workers were very nice, though.
