Riverside Hotel

The hotel itself is beautiful, but the room cleanliness really let it down. The clock, phone, and lamp were dusty, and the shower curtain looked like it had mold or dirt on it. Water also soaked the bathroom floor whenever I showered, so I had to ask for extra towels to keep it dry and avoid slipping. For an elegant hotel, I think the room should have been checked before being offered, especially if it hadn’t been used in a while. I mentioned the problems at checkout. I didn’t get the gentleman’s name, and he said he’d talk to housekeeping, though his reaction left me doubtful that he would. I was there because my flight home was canceled, and I’m not sure I’d stay at Riverside again when I visit Fort Lauderdale. Basic cleanliness should be a priority.

The hotel bar has a relaxed feel and a good happy hour, and I like the old Florida charm in the lobby. The rooms, by contrast, feel fresh and updated. I’ve stayed at Riverside Hotel several times while working in Fort Lauderdale, and it’s become my regular choice. It’s hard to beat the location between Las Olas and the Riverwalk. It’s easy to go for a morning run or a walk, and from the second or third floor you can use the central stairs instead of waiting for the elevator.

The staff were super nice, the rooms were clean, and our balcony gave us great views. The location is right in the middle of the best part of Los Olas blvd. Don’t skip the breakfast french toast at “ “ The Wild Sea in the lobby. What more could you ask for?

The pool was a favorite, and The Boathouse restaurant beside it was delicious. The water taxi is right by the Riverside, with plenty of other restaurants nearby too. DeDe greeted us at check-in and was so kind. The historic property was beautifully decorated for Christmas and very well kept. Our tower room was spacious and spotless.
