Royal Palms Resort & Spa

The staff were so helpful and accommodating, and there was food within walking distance. We stayed here before our Disney cruise, and it was a great location, only an $8 uber ride to the port. The simple room was very clean, and the heated pool was great for swimming comfortably in 70 degree weather. Five stars from us.

The courtyard and pool are such a lovely place to spend an afternoon, even if you live nearby. Calm, beautiful, and effortlessly cool. Everything feels thoughtfully done, and I'm already planning a return. The bed was the surprise for me. I wasn't prepared for how comfortable it was, easily one of the best nights of sleep I've had. Other hotels may have a hard time measuring up now. Royal Palms is an amazing little boutique hotel. Highly recommend for comfort and charm.

The two things I liked were being close to the beach and not seeing a single bug in my room all week. I stayed over the Christmas holidays, and that's about where the positives end. We never got fresh towels. They rehung the old ones all week. I went every day for a pool towel and was told they were out and to come back tomorrow. I never got one. For a “resort &spa,” the only toiletries were the room soap. I needed a comb and was told to walk 17 min to CVS. Apparently the same owner has a few nearby places and you can use their amenities. There's also a discount at the breakfast place up the street, but another guest told us on our last day, so we could've saved a lot of money. The gym is broken and closed indefinitely, and only one of the three pools is heated. Expect the other two to be freezing. The staff seemed like they couldn't care less if you dropped dead in front of them, and would only be annoyed by the inconvenience. Like I said, at least the room was bug-free and near the beach.

We were in the area before a cruise, and the manager was friendly and very helpful. The courtyard garden was lovely, with a small pool. It's part of a hotel complex, and the room was airy and clean, with a large walk-in shower. For the cruise terminal, it's a 20 mins drive by taxi. I'd call this a motel rather than a hotel. The location is ideal for a beach holiday, just a 2 minute walk away. If you turn right at the entrance and follow the road a few minutes, you'll find Archibald’s bakery. The food there was superb, with large portions at reasonable prices.
