Rock Lake Resort

Heather was friendly and very helpful when she checked us in. We enjoyed the cabin’s little patio and its view over the lake. The cabins were clean and nice, with equipped kitchens, and there’s a small pool for a swim. There’s also a short boardwalk behind the resort that feels like you’re in the swamps. Watch out for alligators.

I stayed in the motel section with my husband and our small service dog. The room was quaint and very well kept, and the pool was a relaxing, good size. The cabins have an amazing view, and I definitely plan to come back and stay in one. Guests and workers were all very friendly. The resort is beautiful and a very good price for the quality.

I’m so sad to learn this place has closed. My family and I always loved coming here, and I hope the new owners do something just as special with the property. We stayed over a weekend with our two boys, ages 10 and 7. There’s a charm to the place that’s hard to put into words, and both the guests and staff were so nice. The boys especially liked the pond full of fish and turtles, and neither of them cared about video games or TV while we were there. All four of us took the canoes out twice and saw dolphins swimming very close by both times. One came within 3 feet of us. It’s a memory we won’t forget. We planned to come back over summer.

The beds were great, and despite a few issues, we’ll come back. We were here over Easter weekend in a lakeside cottage and loved it. The front desk person was great, though I wish I’d gotten her name. It’s an older property, but the cottage was clean. I did notice mold in the shower and bathroom window, and wished the bathroom had been cleaner. Several signs said the laundry area machines were out of order, though we didn’t use them during our overnight stay. The little boardwalk makes for a nice, quick walk, but could use a cleanup. The pool area is nice, but the water was still pretty chilly when the kids dipped in. The pool could use some TLC and maybe a shock treatment. This gem is close to downtown and the beach. I was skeptical at first, but I’m happy we found it. As long as they keep it up, we’d come every two months.
