The dock was really nice, and the grounds have lovely brickwork on the paths and patios. The cabin we stayed in, though, was in rough shape. The outside of the others looked similar, but we only stayed in one, so I can’t speak to their condition for sure. None of the doors worked properly. The front door took a lot of force pushing inward to release the deadbolt, and even then the bolt only went about 1/4" into the slot. The back door couldn’t be deadbolted, and the knob was falling apart, apparently from previous guests pulling hard on it. The bathroom and bedroom doors wouldn’t latch either, the toilet was crooked, and the seat wouldn’t stay up. With hard vinyl flooring, sand was always getting around and sticking to our feet. Sugar ants infested the kitchen. We put the trash in the freezer and set food containers in the middle of a water filled cookie sheet to keep ants away.

We stayed a few nights during the week of Thanksgiving in November 2025. It wasn’t busy, with about 3 other cars in the lot. The grounds at The Cottages are lovely, and I enjoyed walking the path with my dog and looking at Florida wildlife, including large lizards. The lit dock is nice for fishing, and at low tide you can spot snails and hermit crabs in the sandy area beneath it. The owner is very sweet. Cottage #6, the dolphin cottage, was clean and had upgraded laminate flooring and a full kitchen with granite. I had no allergy issues, which is better than I can say for most hotels I’ve stayed in. Just know these are 1940s Army barracks with a lot of history, more like repaired camp cabins. They have running water, electricity, and window AC units, and the decor keeps the 1940s feel. There are some gaps in the woodwork where bugs can get in, and the doors don’t close properly. I think Cottage #6 needs more repairs, though I can’t speak for the other cottages.

We came with 12 guys for a fishing weekend and booked 6 rooms. In two rooms, large ants were crawling over everything. Another had plumbing problems so bad that sewage backed up into the shower and toilet. We were told nearby local construction had hit a pipe, so okay. But another room had mouse droppings everywhere. Some of us, including me, had to leave a night early because of the plumbing and pest issues, even though we live about 1.5 hours away from the cottages. Management took my first calls but didn’t fix anything or offer compensation despite repeated attempts to reach them. We got a refund only for the room with the plumbing problem. I wouldn’t recommend taking a chance on whether you’ll wake up covered in ants or have no usable shower or toilet. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Kim and Richard, the owners, are good, down to earth people. The place is quiet and cozy, with beautiful waterfront views, and you can get there by boat. It’s dog friendly, too. Such a hidden gem, and in my opinion there’s no better place to stay in Ft Pierce.

Way overpriced and should be condemned. There were cockroaches, the bathroom was too small and had no electrical outlets, and the screen porch had cobwebs and a dirty floor.
