Sundrift Inn

The elevator made noises that suggested poor maintenance, and the new-looking bathroom faucet leaked all over the sink. I also saw “out of order” signs in several places around the hotel. What is going on here? In my opinion, try another hotel until the managers get this place running properly. The rooms looked clean, but I don't think basic safety and maintenance were being handled properly. The central AC didn't work. Instead, the hotel “owners” had jerry-rigged AC units that gave off a noticeable urine smell. We changed rooms at 1 am because of it, but the second room smelled the same, only less strongly. No pets are allowed, so pets seem unlikely to explain why both rooms had the odor. I wondered if dirty filters, possibly full of mold or bacteria, might be causing it. I couldn't easily find out who the owners were. Apparently it wasn't a matter of public record, and I don't understand why.

The location of the Sundrift Inn in Fort Walton Beach was perfect and very convenient, and the rooms were clean. The hotel itself was okay, but there were serious problems during our stay. People were smoking weed at the pool while families and kids were there. We felt uncomfortable and left right away. A woman also sat by the elevator entrance asking guests for money at random times throughout the day, and she knocked on hotel room doors. Traveling with kids, that made the place feel even more uncomfortable and unsafe. Management should monitor the property better and keep it safe and family-friendly, without weed at the pool.

The views were great, and the rooms felt modern and updated. Staff were really friendly, and my stay was comfortable all around. No complaints from me. I'll definitely be back.

The restaurant inside the hotel is amazing, and breakfast is tasty, though leave time for it because the wait can be a little long. We booked here twice, and both stays were cozy, clean, and quiet. The rooms had enough space, and waking up to the ocean right outside the sea-view room was fantastic. Parking felt safe and was free. The breakfast arrangements confused me. Both times we were told it was included, but it wasn't. The first time, they said there was no breakfast on Sunday. The second time, they said we had to pay extra.
