The renovation looked nice, and breakfast was decent. But our room was a little dirty and had broken things in it, and the pillows for the pullout couch were yellow. Some of the staff weren’t very friendly either. The pool was freezing, which was a huge disappointment since swimming was one of the reasons we booked for our boys.

The reservation problem was especially frustrating. While we were traveling, we learned that someone we’d booked a room for was arriving a day early. We called to add a night and put his name on the reservation so he could check in without me. Somehow it wasn’t added, and although I understand why he couldn’t check in without proof the room was for him, staff wouldn’t let me confirm it when they called me. I had the confirmation numbers and my Hilton number, but the person I spoke with was rude and insisted I contact Hilton Honors. They then called the hotel themselves. Apparently staff couldn’t hear it from me directly, but could hear it indirectly through someone outside the hotel. The property itself was a poor experience too. There was trash all over, and dog waste in every green area. The older residents clearly weren’t picking up after their pets, so perhaps the pet fees could pay for someone to clean it up. We stayed at several Hilton hotels on this trip, and this was the only one that wasn’t up to par.

Every front desk attendant I spoke with was polite, and I got help quickly. The gym was better set up than at most places, but the kitchen was missing some equipment and there were no smart TVs. I’ve stayed at other Home 2 Suites around the greater DFW area that were much better. On checkout morning, I found a large cockroach. The desk responded quickly and apologized, but between that and the disappointing amenities, I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend this location.

Hours before check-in, the hotel canceled my family’s reservation. Earlier that day they’d called to offer an “upgrade” from our two queen beds to one king, which I declined because my family couldn’t fit in one bed. While we were on our way, Expedia called several times to say the room had been canceled, and we had to scramble for another hotel. We were lucky to find one, since many places were sold out for a big playoff game in the city. I’m sure they wanted to charge more for the room than the rate I’d reserved. This was completely unprofessional. I’ll never stay at Home 2 Suites by Hilton, and I’ll tell my family and friends on social media to avoid this crappy hotel.
