Crowne Plaza Hotel Foster City - San Mateo by IHG

My one-night stay at Crowne was awful. Both rooms they assigned smelled of smoke. I was too exhausted to deal with it and went to sleep, then woke around midnight when someone came into the room. I said, “Excuse me??” and they shut the door and left. My partner and I both woke up to it. I barely slept, felt unsafe, and lost my whole next work day because of the incident. I reported it at checkout and asked them to investigate. The Manager called two weeks later and said nobody had entered, which simply wasn't true. They didn't show us the card key access report or camera footage. Instead of refunding us, they gave just $50 for “inconvenience.” I wouldn't recommend Crowne Plaza. If work means you have to stay there, use the extra security lock, since someone might come in during the night.

March 2026. If you have a choice right now, skip this hotel. Renovations and upgrades have been going on for two years, and the buffet breakfast has steadily gotten worse during that time. They seat you with strangers, and refilling the buffet takes a long time. The Wi-Fi is very weak, the internet is slow, and I had to connect several times to get it working. Bathroom water pressure is weak too.

Rooms are clean, with a refrigerator and a safe, but no microwave. There's a gym, though it's not very big, plus a pool and hot tub. WiFi is free.

We got to stay here for a night in October and another night last week, and can't wait to come back. Every staff member we met was friendly, courteous, and professional. Even at 3:45 a.m. checkout, there was a smiling face at the front desk. A special thank you to Christina Roman, who went out of her way to handle all our needs and more so nicely. We couldn't have asked for anyone better. The hotel has recently been renovated. The lobby, common areas, and rooms we saw were modern, immaculate, and comfortable. The mattress, bedding, and linens were great, and the bathroom had plenty of counter space plus a classy lighted makeup mirror. It's conveniently near Costco and a shopping center, just off the highway, and only 10 minutes from SFO. Even so, the rooms were so quiet you wouldn't know there was traffic. Treat yourself to a night or two at the Crowne. We're glad we did. Thank you to everyone there!
