Renaissance Boston Patriot Place Hotel & Spa

The end rooms have a loud AC screech you can hear from inside. Maintenance doesn’t seem to care, or isn’t good at the job. Cleaning the duct and tightening the blades seems like an easy fix, and Marriott shouldn’t let that kind of noise or carelessness slide. The lounge has also been closed, even though the booking says “concierge lounge,” and the gym could use an upgrade. It’s more like a Fairfield or Courtyard gym. There were some good points too. The front desk night staff went above and beyond to find me a room that worked, and the kitchen waitress was great. The food was really good. I liked being able to use the destination fee at the market and bar, and the kitchen was well stocked. They also hand out stadium passes and cupcakes. There’s a large parking lot, and it’s easy to walk to the stadium or get food.

After a six-hour trip, pregnant and without a car, I arrived to find that my booking at the other Patriot Place hotel had been canceled. My debit card had been stolen a month before, and they canceled the stay without calling to tell me or trying to help when I got there. I went to the Renaissance, where Darci at the front desk did everything she could and found me a room at the last minute on a Saturday night. The room was great, and so was the restaurant and bar downstairs. My family, who stayed at the other Patriot Place hotel, saw how much better the Renaissance was and plans to stay here on future trips. Thanks again to Darci and the whole staff!

The hotel has nice, quiet rooms and comfortable mattresses. You can’t beat the spot if you want extra time around Gillette for an event, or want to eat and drink at Patriot Place. I’d give it five stars, but the front desk doesn’t explain the unusual billing item at check-in. There’s a $25 “Destination Program” charge. It includes credit at Twenty8, free cupcake coupons for Cupcake Charlie’s, admission for two to the Patriot Hall of Fame, and other local business discounts. It’s a good deal, and I’d assumed it was optional. When I asked at the desk, they said it gets added automatically. They should explain the benefits when you check in. Make sure to use the program, since you might not realize you’re enrolled until the charge appears at checkout.

The staff were courteous, and I left feeling refreshed. The outdoor terrace was a favorite, with greenery and stylish seating. It was relaxing during the day, then became lively on weekend evenings with music and a fun atmosphere, almost like a little getaway just outside the hotel. I also enjoyed the clean, peaceful indoor pool, and breakfast had plenty of fresh, satisfying choices, with a treat or two while still fitting my health goals. The location is hard to beat, right by Gillette Stadium and in the middle of Patriot Place, with shops and restaurants steps away. I had a wonderful stay at the Renaissance Boston Patriot Place Hotel and would absolutely return and recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, convenience and a bit of luxury.
